Pharmacogenomics: Discovery and Implementation
Built on the infrastructure created by the Mayo-NIH PGRN and Mayo-NIH Breast SPORE, within the Mayo Center for Individualized Medicine (CIM), we are working on projects related to PGx implementation as well as PGx discovery and translational studies in breast cancer, prostate cancer and cardiovascular disease. We plan to sequence 10K Mayo Rochester biobank DNA samples using captured NextGen Sequencing of 76 PGx genes. These information would be linked to our EMR for retrospective and prospective analysis. In addition, with the Pharmacogenomics Program of CIM, we have performed breast cancer and prostate cancer genome guided treatment trial to identify and understand resistance mechanisms of standard therapies.

Pharmacogenomics Conference
The 2018 Pharmacogenomics Confernece on June 22 was at capacity with over 310 registrants in attendance. Topics included: cancer somatic mutations and selection of targeted therapies, emerging PGx areas such as analgesics and how to apply PGx in minority populations, clinical PGx guidelines, use of PGx in children, implementation of PGx in practice settings, insurance reimbursement, and evidence for cost effectiveness and improved quality of care. Participants were given the opportunity to have personal PGx testing done by OneOme and received their results at check-in. See speaker information, pictures and videos here
